Description
Platycodon grandifloras is commonly called balloon flower, Chinese bellflower, or platycodon. The balloon flower is easily identified by its puffed-up buds, which resemble balloons. They burst open into bell-shaped beautiful purple flowers. Plants are native to slopes and meadows in China, Japan, Korea and Siberia. These flowers grow well in my small Florida garden. An occasional green anole shows off its red dewlap while basking in the warm sun. “Balloon Flowers and Green Lizard,” is a hand-painted digital image and a composite of original photographs by Spadecaller.
