Even with the slightest breeze the bamboo tree in the forest sways. This gentle bending motion with the wind embodies the concept of humility. Their fibrous limbs are hard and firm and yet sway gently in the breeze while their trunks stay rooted firmly in the ground below. The bamboo trunks do not fight. They remain flexible; harmoniously moving and swaying with the wind. And, yet under the strain of the strongest winds the bamboo bends without breaking. The lesson of the bamboo demonstrates attitudes of flexibility, sensitivity, perseverance, strength, and humility. “Bending Bamboo,” is a hand-painted digital image created in Spadecaller’s Florida studio.
Spadecaller is an experienced traditional artist, who creates original hand-painted digital images and photo composite artworks. In the late fifties at eight years old, Spadecaller started formal training in traditional oil painting.Through considerable personal sacrifice, his mother nurtured his artistic talents and provided him with the tools to launch his creative journey. Spadecaller attended The School of Visual Arts in New York City (1970-71), and during the 70's up until the late 80's, he exhibited acrylic and oils in Montreal and New York.
