Description
The Eurasian Bullfinch is a small passerine bird in the finch family. It is found from Great Britain in the west through central and northern Europe and Asia to the Pacific coast of Japan and Russia. They are some wanderers found in North America, with numerous sightings occurring in Alaska. In Europe they are simply known as "Bullfinch". They prefer wooded and scrubby habitats but have adapted well to human presence and can often be observed in gardens, farmland, suburban areas, hedgerows, orchards, and parks. They have a love of buds of fruit trees in the spring, a habit for which they have earned scorn by orchard owners and farmers. They are most often seen as breeding pairs. The bullfinches featured in this image are perched in a Rowan Tree with Autumnal leaves that have turned red. The ripened summer fruit is soft and juicy, which makes them a real treat for the bullfinches. “Bullfinches in Rowan Tree,” is a hand-painted digital image and photo composite created Spadecaller’s Florida Studio.
