Description
From the Amazon rainforests to the Arctic Circle, intense wildfires around the world are burning our forests. Not all these fires are the consequence of climate change. Catastrophic manmade fires are spreading across the Brazilian Amazon, threatening the world’s most biodiverse forest. In Indonesia, annual fires set to clear land for oil palm plantations are demolishing the ancient rainforests of Kalimantan and Sumatra. With the accumulating effects of these fires and global warming, scientists fear that the worst is yet to come. Drought and climate change are currently claiming millions of acres of forest lands leaving them barren and lifeless. As the global alarm sounds, many are asking why our forests are burning—and who is to blame? The answer is complex, but at the root of it all: a destructive combination of climate change caused by manmade pollution and reckless land use. The loss of habitat, wildlife, and oxygen rich forests is rapidly changing the earth. The insane truth is human beings are quickly making the planet earth uninhabitable. The need for establishing alternative energy sources and employing responsible land conservation strategies is urgent.
