Description
Growing in Eastern gardens for over 4,000 years, the peony flower was spread across the country as different emperors relocated their courts. Peonies became particularly popular during the Tang dynasty, when they were grown in the imperial gardens. Since the sixth and seventh century, ornamental hybrids were created from plants cultivated for medicine in China.
In Europe, herbaceous peonies are a part of ancient Greek mythology and are highly regarded for their medicinal properties. Designated as the official emblem of China, the flower plays a large role in holidays and traditions like the Chinese New Year. The Chinese name for “most beautiful” translates to peony. Peonies are a popular garden flower in countries throughout the world. Since the Tang dynasty, artists from all cultures continue to celebrate their beauty. “Chinese Pink Peonies in Vase” is a mixed media / hand-painted digital image and composite created by Spadecaller.
