Description
Longevity is the traditional Chinese meaning for the Crane. Wisdom that comes with age, is an often associated meaning and in Feng Shui (the philosophy of harmony), the influence of the Chinese Crane painting is about growing wise and old.
Other than the Phoenix, the crane has long been an auspicious symbol of Chinese culture, and is the most important bird in legend and art. The Crane is believed to be immortal. Depicted frequently in Chinese paintings, the crane is referred to as heavenly and blessed. The passing of a Taoist priest is said to be "turning into a feathered Crane".
