Artist's Description
Common across the North American continent is the graceful, slender-tailed, small-headed dove known as the mourning dove. She perches almost anywhere and forages for seeds on the ground; her flight is fast and bullet straight. With a soft, drawn-out call you will hear her laments heralding the morning sunrise and whispering her farewells to the day’s last light. When flying off, her wings make a sharp whistling sound.
