Description
The epiphytic genus encyclia occurs in Florida, the Caribbean, Mexico, and other regions of the tropical Americas. This orchid grows on the surface of trees and derives its moisture and nutrients from the air, rain, and surrounding debris. The vanilla - honey fragrance of the encylia fragans bloom and its red striped lip attract many pollinators – bees, wasps, flies, butterflies, hummingbirds, moths, and beetles. Its wonderful fragrance and appearance play an essential role in its survival. The botanical image, “Encyclia Fragrans Orchid,” is a hand-painted digital composite created in Spadecaller’s Florida studio.
