Description
In the Chinese countryside, frogs flourish in rice paddies. Popular fairy tales showcase handsome princes and princesses transformed by dark magic into humble frogs. Indigenous peoples of the North American Northwest linked frogs to rain. Frogs eat insects and are instrumental in preventing the spread of disease, such as the West Nile Virus. What is it about the frog that defies rational understanding? There are frog stores, collectibles and even frog conventions. And, among these fascinating amphibians there is Kermit, the most famous frog. His iconic look and voice are known worldwide. In fact, Kermit was credited as the author of Before You Leap: A Frog's Eye View of Life's Greatest Lessons, an "autobiography," written from the frog’s perspective.
For Spadecaller, the frog is more than worthy of its place on the canvass. Along with the lotus flower and the lily pad, the frog shares the beauty of the timeless pond. “Frog Pond,” is a hand-painted digital image created in Spadecaller’s Florida studio.
