The lessons of life derived from nature unite the hawk and the pine tree in this Spadecaller image. With keen awareness and majesty, the hawk perches high upon the snow- covered pine tree. The old pine tree is unencumbered by the cold and the weight of the snow, and the hawk takes a restful moment. This is a mixed media /digital painting created in Spadecaller's Florida studio.

Spadecaller is an experienced traditional artist, who creates original hand-painted digital images and photo composite artworks. In the late fifties at eight years old, Spadecaller started formal training in traditional oil painting.Through considerable personal sacrifice, his mother nurtured his artistic talents and provided him with the tools to launch his creative journey. Spadecaller attended The School of Visual Arts in New York City (1970-71), and during the 70's up until the late 80's, he exhibited acrylic and oils in Montreal and New York.
