Found in the warm and tropical regions all over the world is the Hibiscus, which belongs to the mallow family. Hibiscus flowers grow throughout my home state, Florida. The importance of the hibiscus flower is found in many cultures. The yellow hibiscus is the state flower of Hawaii and other species of hibiscus are the national flowers of Haiti, South Korea, and Malaysia. In some Hindu rituals, the red hibiscus is offered to the Goddess Kali and Lord Ganesha. Believed to emit divine energy and divine consciousness hibiscus flowers are staples in traditional prayers throughout India and other countries. “Hibiscus Blooms,” is a hand-painted digital composite created by Spadecaller with background elements from Morning in the Tropics by Frederick Edwin Church, (1858).
Spadecaller is an experienced traditional artist, who creates original hand-painted digital images and photo composite artworks. In the late fifties at eight years old, Spadecaller started formal training in traditional oil painting.Through considerable personal sacrifice, his mother nurtured his artistic talents and provided him with the tools to launch his creative journey. Spadecaller attended The School of Visual Arts in New York City (1970-71), and during the 70's up until the late 80's, he exhibited acrylic and oils in Montreal and New York.
