In Chinese culture, the magpie signifies happiness. The singing of a magpie foretells good luck and happiness. In Chinese and Korean cultures, the magpie is called the “bird of joy.” In Northern China, the Manchu minority consider these birds sacred creatures. "Magpies and Pink Magnolia" is a hand-painted digital image and photo composite created in Spadecaller’s Florida studio. This image is protected by copyright and may not be reproduced, downloaded, distributed, transmitted, copied, reproduced in derivative works, displayed, published or broadcast by any means or in any form without prior written consent from the artist.

M Spadecaller

Spadecaller is an experienced traditional artist, who creates original hand-painted digital images and photo composite artworks. In the late fifties at eight years old, Spadecaller started formal training in traditional oil painting.Through considerable personal sacrifice, his mother nurtured his artistic talents and provided him with the tools to launch his creative journey. Spadecaller attended The School of Visual Arts in New York City (1970-71), and during the 70's up until the late 80's, he exhibited acrylic and oils in Montreal and New York.
