Artist's Description

Ginkgo biloba is the botanical name for this deciduous tree, which is native to China. It is now represented all over the world. Considered the world’s oldest living species of tree, geological evidence dates them back to the Mesozoic era, over 200 million years ago! In East Asia, Ginkgo biloba is cultivated as a temple tree and is also prized for its edible seeds. Considered the tree of the millennium, they can reach an age of up to 1,000 years. In Japan Ginkgo trees are planted around temple sites and are considered sacred. These beautiful trees produce an herbal product popular around the world, and most specifically in Asian cultures. “Maidenhair Tree and Frog,” is a digital painting and photo composite created in Spadecaller’s Florida studio.
