Description
The ancient Chinese held bamboo in profound esteem. China is known as the Kingdom of Bamboo, where the most species of bamboo in the world grow. To the Chinese people, bamboo is a symbol of virtue. Throughout history, bamboo art and literature reflect the soul and emotions of humanity.
A few years ago, I was studying the leaves of the bamboo, when I discovered that I too was being carefully observed. The master of camouflage, the praying mantis, stood motionless on a branch just inches from my eyes. Like a bamboo leaf, the mantis remained steadfast as it studied the giant interloper, me.
“Bamboo Leaves and Mantis,” is a hand painted /mixed media digital painting by Spadecaller.
