In 1979 on Long Boat Key, Florida, I observed a wild flock of parakeets (Budgerigars) chattering and squawking loudly in a kumquat tree as the sun was setting. This was quite a festive gathering! Since that time, I have seen these wonderful birds flying wild throughout many areas in Florida and I have always enjoyed creating artwork that showcases these highly social birds. This is a hand-painted digital image created in Spadecaller’s Florida studio.
Spadecaller is an experienced traditional artist, who creates original hand-painted digital images and photo composite artworks. In the late fifties at eight years old, Spadecaller started formal training in traditional oil painting.Through considerable personal sacrifice, his mother nurtured his artistic talents and provided him with the tools to launch his creative journey. Spadecaller attended The School of Visual Arts in New York City (1970-71), and during the 70's up until the late 80's, he exhibited acrylic and oils in Montreal and New York.
