Artist's Description

Ikebana, in Japanese, literally means “living flower” or “the way of the flower.” Closely related to Zen traditions, the practice started in the 7th century. Ikebana is an art-form with meditative value. Creating an arrangement or composition is supposed to be done in silence to allow the artist to observe and meditate on the beauty of nature and gain inner peace. Experienced artists realize the importance of space, which is not meant to be filled, but created and preserved in the composition. This ties into other principles of Ikebana including minimalism, shape and line, form, humanity, aesthetics, and balance.
“Red Carnations and Bamboo Vase,” is a hand-painted digital image created by Spadecaller.
