Description
Lilium regale, commonly called regal lily, is a perennial trumpet lily. It is native to the western part of Sichuan Province in southwestern China and cultivated elsewhere as an ornamental. It was introduced to England in 1903 by Ernest Henry Wilson. In this minimalist still life digital image, the vase showcases two etched goldfish. In Chinese culture, fish symbolize two qualities. The first one is the aspect of abundance, because fish can reproduce quickly in large quantities. The second one is derived from the Chinese word for fish (yu), which is pronounced the same way as abundance. Hence, the image of fish creates one of the most popular and potent feng shui charms: the energy of wealth. “Regal Lily in Two Fish Vase,” is a hand painted digital painting created in Spadecaller’s Florida studio.
