Artist's Description

These elegant cranes are courting, renewing a yearly dance that they eagerly perform as the warm Florida days lengthen into spring. Sandhill Crane pairs remain together for life, and their spirited dance plays an essential role in reaffirming this bond.

Florida sandhill cranes are full time residents and cherished members of the Florida ecosystem, but they are now a threatened species. They inhabit inland shallow freshwater marshes, prairies, pastures and farmlands throughout most of the state. The primary threat facing these cranes is habitat loss. “Sandhill Cranes Courting Dance,” is a digital painting and photo composite created by Spadecaller.
