Description
One of the only places in the world where you don’t have to take a boat to see these amazing seabirds is Cape St. Mary - home to one of Newfoundland's largest seabird colonies.
With a wingspan of up to 6.6 ft., northern gannets are the largest seabirds in the North Atlantic.
These migrating birds spend most of their lives at sea. Their return to land is spectacular. Seeing them plunge into the ocean while they pursue their prey underwater and then emerging from the sea with a shining herring is breathtaking. Every year from April to June they return to the same nest and the same mate. “Seabirds Homecoming,” is a hand-painted digital image created in Spadecaller’s Florida studio.
