Description
The suitably named snowshoe hare has large feet, which enables them to traverse the snow without sinking. Taking up to ten weeks to change color completely, their white furry coats turn brown during the summer to sustain its protective camouflage. Snowshoe hares are primarily a northern species ranging as far north as the shores of the Arctic Ocean. Along North American mountain ranges, where elevation simulates northerly habitats, they can be found as far south as the Appalachians in Virginia and the Rockies in New Mexico. “Snowshoe Hares,” is a mixed media digital painting and photo composite created in Spadecaller's Florida Studio.
