Description
Tropical Sage (Salvia coccinea) is an herbaceous perennial that is widespread throughout the Southeastern United States, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, Colombia, Peru, and Brazil. Though its place of origin is Mexico, these hardy plants are native to Florida. It may be the most commonly planted Florida wildflower in the Sunshine State. It is exceptionally adaptable, long-blooming, and a great attraction for hummingbirds and butterflies. The coral nymph flower, as shown in this image, are known to attract hummingbirds from dawn to dusk. Flowers are pollinated by hummingbirds and butterflies. These long-blooming flowers reseed themselves and will spread throughout the garden. A female ruby-throated hummingbird is featured in this image. “Tropical Sage and Hummingbird,” is a digital composite and painting created by Spadecaller.
