Description
Oleander is a dense, fast-growing evergreen shrub that has been around since ancient times. These divine flowers are captivating, but the Nerium oleander is extremely poisonous if ingested. The delicate oleander blossoms of which are crimson, magenta, or white, is one of the most toxic plants in the world. Every part of the plant is extremely poisonous. Even inhaling the smoke from a burning oleander is a health threat. Like many things in nature, the most beautiful and alluring are often the most dangerous. It is native to a vast area ranging from Northwest Africa and Iberian Peninsula eastward through the Mediterranean region, to the Arabian Peninsula, southern Asia, and as far east as Yunnan in southern parts of China. In the US, oleander grows in the warmer climates of the Southern coastal states from Florida to Southern California. “White Oleander,” is a hand-painted digital image and photo composite created in Spadecaller’s Florida Studio on 3/10/2021.
