Description
While sightings of the wild white Siberian tiger continue to be reported, nothing has been scientifically determined yet. Unfortunately, white tigers can only be found in zoos; this is solely because of exploitative breeding programs. Hopefully people will learn not to support the breeding of white tigers. Though these tremendous and beautiful tigers are great attractions, captive inbreeding of white tigers results in high neonatal mortality rates that exceed 80%. To produce one perfect white tiger, the tigers must be inbred multiple times. For exhibitors to market white tigers, only 1 in 30 will survive. The other 29 are usually deformed, die at birth from genetic defects, or are the wrong color; these cubs are all euthanized.
In Chinese culture, the tiger is the king of the beasts. According to folklore, the tiger's tail would turn white when it reached the age of 500 years. Subsequently, the white tiger became a mythological creature. It was prophesied that the white tiger would only appear when the emperor ruled with complete virtue, or if there was peace throughout the world.
Better to pursue peace throughout the world and continue the search for the wild white tiger than continuing the cruel and exploitative breeding of captive white tigers. “White Tiger Wading” is a hand painted / mixed media digital painting created in Spadecaller's Florida studio (12.31.2019).
