Artist's Description
Terns are long-lived birds and are relatively free from natural predators and disease; nevertheless, most species are declining in numbers due habitat loss and pollution. Terns breed on all continents and have a worldwide distribution. Many terns breeding in temperate zones are long-distance migrants.
