Consisting of over 1800 accepted species names, the begonia is one of the most diverse and largest plant classifications. Over the past 20 years, the number of species in this genus has increased sharply. Begonia researchers across the world predict that the number of species may total between 2000 and 2500. Begonia is mainly native to moist tropical and subtropical climates, and is mostly distributed in Asia, America, and Africa. It is one of the most attractive ornamentals with both beautiful foliage and flowers. “Begonia and Grasshopper,” is a hand-painted digital image created in Spadecaller’s Florida Studio on December1,2020.
About M Spadecaller
Spadecaller is an experienced traditional artist, who creates original hand-painted digital images and photo composite artworks. In the late fifties at eight years old, Spadecaller started formal training in traditional oil painting.Through considerable personal sacrifice, his mother nurtured his artistic talents and provided him with the tools to launch his creative journey. Spadecaller attended The School of Visual Arts in New York City (1970-71), and during the 70's up until the late 80's, he exhibited acrylic and oils in Montreal and New York.
