Artist's Description
In this image, the artist complements and contrasts the modest sparrow with the magnificent flowers of the wisteria. In the past, the flowering wisteria vine was associated with Japanese nobility as commoners were forbidden from wearing the color purple. Wisteria or fuji are purple flowers which grow on woody, trailing vines. Sparrows are familiar tiny birds, so common that human beings often ignore their presence. Spadecaller enjoys joining the modesty of the common sparrow with the spectacular blooming wisteria. This is a mixed media and digital painting created in Spadecaller's Florida studio.
