The Buff-breasted Tody-Tyrant is currently threatened by habitat loss in Brazil as a result of ongoing and catastrophic levels of deforestation. Radical changes to the environment is fragmenting its range. The total population is estimated at about 2000. BirdLife International lists the Buff-breasted Tody-Tyrant as vulnerable to extinction. These birds live mainly in dense, tall vine tangles within seasonally dry, semi-deciduous woodlands, mainly in the highlands of this region, although the Buff-breasted Tody-Tyrant has also been observed in the understory of rather humid forest habitats. In this image, the bromeliads and orchid (cattleya cinnabarina) are also endemic to Brazil. This is a mixed media digital image and photo composite created in Spadecaller’s Florida studio.
Spadecaller is an experienced traditional artist, who creates original hand-painted digital images and photo composite artworks. In the late fifties at eight years old, Spadecaller started formal training in traditional oil painting.Through considerable personal sacrifice, his mother nurtured his artistic talents and provided him with the tools to launch his creative journey.
