Because of its striking appearance and wonderful temperament, the Moluccan cockatoo (also known as the Salmon Crested Cockatoo), is a favorite among bird fanciers. One of the largest cockatoo species, the Moluccan Cockatoo, is rosy pink with each bird having varying shades of pinkness. In the wild, their diet includes seed, fruit, nuts as well as insects. The Moluccan Cockatoo is native to the Seram archipelago in eastern Indonesia. In this image, the cockatoo is perched on an Indian Ghost Tree (Sterculia Urens). Spadecaller is an experienced traditional artist, who creates original hand-painted digital images and photo composite artworks. In the late fifties at eight years old, Spadecaller started formal training in traditional oil painting.Through considerable personal sacrifice, his mother nurtured his artistic talents and provided him with the tools to launch his creative journey. Spadecaller attended The School of Visual Arts in New York City (1970-71), and during the 70's up until the late 80's, he exhibited acrylic and oils in Montreal and New York.
