Artist's Description
Echinacea Purpurea, also known as the purple coneflower, is a North American flowering plant in the sunflower family. It is native to eastern North America and grows wild in much of eastern, southeastern and midwestern United States as well as in the Canadian Province of Ontario. It is most common in the Ozarks and in the Mississippi/Ohio Valley
In addition to its ornamental beauty, Echinacea is widely used as an herbal remedy today. First introduced by Native Americans to the pioneers and early American physicians, the herb fell out of favor after the advent of antibiotics in the 1930s. Only recently, however, the herb has been rediscovered and has achieved worldwide popularity as an antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial. “Purple Coneflowers and Dragonfly” is a digital composite created by Spadecaller.
