Artist's Description

The biblical word Shoah (שואה) is the Hebrew word for “catastrophe” and specifically refers to the the killing of nearly six million Jews in Europe by Nazi Germany and its collaborators during the Second World War. Today, January 27,2023 is International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

During the mass deportation of Jews from the Warsaw Ghetto to Treblinka Extermination camp in 1942, trains carried approximately 7,000 victims each with cars that were loaded to 200% of capacity.
Today is a day of commemoration of the victims of the Holocaust and our responsibility to respond with humanity to the victims of atrocity crimes, to counter hate speech, antisemitism, holocaust distortion, denial, and prejudice – to do all we can to prevent the genocide of any group.

The current escalation of antisemitism and hate crimes throughout the world must be challenged.
“Shoah” is a poster created in Spadecaller’s Florida Studio on 1/27/2023.
