Artist's Description
In Chinese culture, sparrows are auspicious. They are symbolic of spring and happiness. The sound of sparrows chattering in the peony flowers soothes the spirit and opens the heart to good fortune. Growing in Eastern gardens for over 4,000 years, the peony flower was introduced throughout China as different emperors established their courts. Peonies became especially popular in the imperial gardens during the Tang dynasty.
"Sparrows and Peony" is a digitally hand-painted mixed media image created by Spadecaller.
