Description
Global warming is here. The science is old news; but the trauma caused by floods and violent storms is a new experience for millions. It was well understood half way through the 20th century that burning fossil fuels would cause catastrophic climate change. Those still writing the propaganda to refute this fact are cheerleaders for the fossil fuel industry. Voting republican or democrat will not make global warming disappear.
Climate change is causing strong on-shore winds coupled with high tides that cause tsunami-like incursions. In Miami, for example, the rising sea is already an unavoidable part of daily life. With sixty other cities newly inscribed on the endangered list, the time has come to seek higher ground and long-term remedies.
Retreating coastlines are forcing people to abandon their homes. Sunny-day flooding of streets in coastal Florida are gravely impacting small business owners. The daily routines of all residents are changing. The corner bus stop may be underwater. The school buses do not run regularly.
Ice on the north and south polar caps is rapidly melting, which is causing the sea level to rise. Inundation of coastal cities is making life more difficult for millions. The increasing volume of warmer water affects the entire coastline with higher tides, super storms and hurricanes. “Ocean Drive Submerged,” is a digital painting and composite created by Spadecaller.
