The wood duck is a species of perching duck found in North America. It is one of the most colorful North American waterfowl. Florida is home to both year-round (resident) and migratory wood ducks. They inhabit wooded, bushy, or other vegetated wetland areas. The wood duck nests in tree cavities near lakes, rivers, ponds, and other wetland areas.
