Description
The flowering bulb of the Amaryllis plant is a native of the Western Cape region of South Africa. These robust flowers are widely sold in the winter months because of their ability to bloom indoors. Amaryllis means "pride, determination and radiant beauty". The beautiful and majestic Amaryllis is best known for its vibrant and velvety trumpet-like flowers. However, the bloom's best-kept secret is its sweet and delicate scent. As displayed in this image, a Ruby throated Hummingbird is seeking the plentiful pollen and nectar these tubular flowers produce. Hummingbirds love bright colors, especially red. Like butterflies, they enjoy pollen and nectar. “Amaryllis and Hummingbird” is a hand-painted digital image and photo composite created in Spadecaller’s Florida Studio on 9/11/2021.
