Description
The orchid represents springtime. The beauty and elegance of the orchid is fragile in form. Like the plum blossom, its fragrance is never overpowering, symbolizing humility and nobility. In Chinese art, the orchid is one of the Four Gentlemen (also called the Four Noble Ones). The term compares four plants to Confucian junzi, or "gentlemen:” the plum, the orchid, the bamboo, and the chrysanthemum. For more than a thousand years, the Four Gentlemen have been depicted in Chinese painting because of their exceptional beauty and the moral characters with which the Chinese scholars have linked them. “Ruby Orchid,” is a mixed media and hand-painted digital image created in Spadecaller’s Florida studio.
