Description
In the shallow water flats of the Gulf of Mexico from the Panhandle of Florida down to the Everglades, the speckled trout are plentiful. I often spent the day fishing at Honeymoon Island, which is a barrier Island in St. Joseph’s Sound located in Palm Harbor. I often caught speckled trout and redfish. In the late morning on a hot summer day, I remember sitting in the warm water waist high, while leisurely casting my topwater plug. That day I caught a large trout – nearly seven pounds. Most often I released my catch, knowing they could grow larger and populate the waters, but on this day I brought home the large trout and prepared a fine dinner for my family. The catch of the day was baked trout with white wine, new potatoes, and asparagus. “About That Fish” is a hand-painted digital image and photo composite completed in Spadecaller’s Florida Studio on 3/21/2022.
