Description
During the early 1900s, Anna's hummingbirds bred only in northern Baja California and southern California until the introduction of exotic ornamental plants across the entire west coast, which enabled the species to expand its breeding range throughout the Pacific coast and inland deserts. This image presents the fragrant pink trumpet vine with the suckling hummingbird. “Trumpet Vine and Hummingbird” is a hand-painted digital image and photo composited completed in Spadecaller’s Florida Studio on 2/20/22.
